StenSilan® M is a single-component, silane-based water and oil repellent impregnation agent for mineral surfaces such as natural stone, marble, concrete and plaster. It chemically bonds to the surface and diffuses deep into the material without forming a film, giving it a hydrophobic (water-repellent) and oleophobic (oil-repellent) character. As a result, liquids such as coffee, tea, wine and olive oil cannot penetrate the structure, and any residue left on the surface wipes away easily. Because it does not form a separate coating, it carries none of the peeling, separating, embrittlement or slipperiness risks typical of other impregnation-type materials.
Areas of Use
StenSilan® M prevents marble, granite, lymra and slate surfaces from absorbing water and oil. It is ideal for frequently cleaned, traffic-bearing natural stone floors in tourist facilities, restaurants, shopping malls and similar venues. Since it does not clog capillary canals, it does not impede the stone’s ability to breathe; by preventing water in hairline cracks from freezing and deforming the surface, it considerably prolongs coating life. Thanks to these properties it is also used to protect any natural stone, mineral or fired-clay surface exposed to atmospheric conditions and the wetting effect of rain or other water sources.
